President Ramaphosa visits family of slain taxi driver

President Cyril Ramaphosa paid homage to Jabu Baloyi when he visited his family in Soshanguve, North of Pretoria on Friday.

Ramaphosa was accompanied by African National Congress (ANC) national officials as well as National Executive Committee (NEC) members to offer condolences and pay tribute to Baloyi. Ramaphosa’s visit comes two days after Tshwane Mayor Stevens Mokgalapa donated R100 000 to Baloyi’s family.

Baloyi was shot and killed over two weeks ago in the Pretoria CBD while he was trying to stop an alleged drug dealer from selling drugs to school children. Ramaphosa praised Baloyi for taking a stand against drug peddling. “We want to offer our condolences to him and his family. And we also want Jabu’s life to be a symbol of hope,” said Ramaphosa.
