Police pounce on offenders at the weekend

One hundred and twenty-eight suspects were arrested by JHB Central District officers, for various offences, during crime combating operations that were conducted this past weekend. 

Suspects were arrested around Mondeor, Booysens, Moffatview, Langlaagte, Fairlands, Sophiatown, Brixton and the Johannesburg CBD.

“Among the suspects who were arrested during the operations; one was arrested for car hijacking while another for possession of an unlicensed firearm. Two suspects were arrested for impersonating police officers, three for kidnapping, five for armed robbery, four for possession of stolen motor vehicles, three for domestic violence, six for common robbery and forty for drunken driving”, says Captain Xoli Mbele.

The rest of the suspects were arrested for committing other crimes ranging from; common assault, assault GBH, theft, malicious damage to property, fraud, shoplifting, possession of drugs, dealing in liquor without a license, illegal mining, ands murder. 

Most of these suspects are appearing today, 07 October 2019, in various Magistrate Courts around the Johannesburg area.
