Women empowerment changing lives

The Naomi M foundation held a seminar for women, on Saturday, focusing on restoring dignity, instilling hope and cementing the way women identity themselves. The theme was aptly titled ‘No more running, fetch your life’

Naomi Molemo is the founder and CEO of Naomi M Foundation and Is also, the chosen, Mrs. Africa Continental finalist. The 34 year old represents women empowerment and encourages women to speak up against abusive relationships and rape. She is also a mentor for young children in Mogale City, on the West Rand.

Gauteng News spoke to Naomi and she added, “The platform is for all women from all walks of life who are caged and trapped in abusive relationships, rape victims, and those who are battling with defining who they are and what they stand for.  Most women are absent in their own life, because they are still living their lives holding on to past mistakes, failures, suffering and hurt”.

The movement plays a significant role in society as South Africa faces a scourge of gender-based violence. Molemo was the keynote speaker for the day alongside guest speaker Tshegofatso Tilotsane.

Women from different walks of life delivered testimonies that encouraged women to rise up from their circumstances.  “I live by this motto: we cannot reverse the effects of past generation’s actions, but we can be proactive in having a positive impact on the next generation. With this movement we’re saying, we cannot change yesterday and the effects it had in our lives, but we can proactively do something today that will change our future,” said Molemo.
