NNC raises funds to take government to court

The National Neglected Citizens organised an amazing race at Multi-Purpose community hall in Cosmo City Johannesburg, to raise funds for neglected and homeless people whose homes were demolished by the City of Johannesburg and Red Ants.

The organisation also called upon form C holders who applied for RDP houses in the 1990s but never receivedany response or RDP houses from the Human Settlement department. This has led the organisation to take legal action against the municipality.

The funds raised at the race will go towards a plan to assist the homeless. “With the funds we have raised we will be able to implement activities that will help the current situation faced by our people.

“Without money it won’t be easy to challenge the government in court, but this is the beginning and we are really grateful for the community of Cosmo City and we would like them to stay united with one another,” said the National Spokesperson of NNC, Bongi Mmako.

Community members were entertained by local artists including, Zuko SA, Mashona, Grim Reapers and Mali. The NNC members illustrated unity and fighting spiritagainst the injustices faced by community members of Alexandra, Cosmo City and Tembisa to name a few.

“Currently we can’t confirm the amount raised from the race and we can’t say we can buy land or build them houses with the funds, but we will make sure to bring about justice for them in court,” Mmako added.
