Othandweni Children’s Centre calling for aerobics marathon

The Othandweni Children’s Centre will be hosting an exciting health and fitness programme to raise funds for the centre and encourage healthy living at Mofolo, Soweto. The health and fitness programme will be held at the centre on 19 October and community members are invited to join and participate in an aerobics marathon that will be fascilitated by different instructors.

The children’s centre strives to encourage and promote a healthy lifestyle and make sure that the community maintains and commits to a better and life-long lifestyle. People from Mofolo are urged to be part of the aerobics marathon and stay healthy by exercising everyday which will assist with avoiding chronic diseases, such as high blood and diabetes.  

The majority of the elderly people in the township suffer from chronic diseases, therefore, the Othandweni Children’s Center promotes healthy living to assist the elderly and decrease the silent killer which is affecting most community members in Mofolo.  

Considering October represents mental illness awareness month, exercising and doing aerobics will help curb depression and release feel good hormones called endorphins.
