EFF wishes the people of Botswana well

The Economic Freedom Fighters wished the people of Botswana well on their up-coming 2019 national elections. The results are scheduled to be released Thursday evening.

“We wish them free, fair and peaceful democratic elections. May a government of the people and for the people rise and lead Botswana into economic freedom in our lifetime,” said Mbuyiseni Ndlozi National Spokesperson of the EFF.

Botswana is well known for its stable and peaceful democracy in Africa, however, it has retained the first post electoral system that was adopted from the UK. Which means, the Botswana national parliament winner must obtain at least 29 of the 57 constituencies.

Should it not happen the country will have its first coalition government or there will be a different political party ruling the country for the first time since 1996.

Therefore, experts are questioning the stability of Botswana’s democracy and if the results of the election would be a new era for the people and the political landscape of Botswana.
