Matriculants have their say on final exams

Kutollo Mashile, Grade 12 learner from Diepsloot West Secondary School

How are the exams so far?

So far the exams are going well and what I can say is that as the class of 2019 we are going to obtain a bachelors entry.

Why do you think is it important to prepare for your exams?

The reason why I prepare myself for an exam is to avoid being clueless during exam time and copy other learners, I also don’t want to be nervous and panic so I make sure that I am well prepared.

Where do you prefer to study for your exams?

Personally, I can’t study at home so I go to school and meet with my study group. It helps to ask questions while studying with other people and assist each other where we might be lacking. Studying with my friends is great because things become more clear and simple, therefore, it makes it easy for us to study and understand the work.

What kind of method do you use to prepare and study for your exams?

I use past question papers to study. I have realised with exam papers they use the same method or same exam questions so that helps me a lot to study and get ready for my exams. So practicing with past papers makes me enjoy my exams because I know what to expect and it’snot the first time seeing the paper.

How are the exams so far?

My final examinations have been fair so far, for me it’s like a preliminary exam and it’s a lot easier than I thought it would be so I am managing.

Why do you think it is important to prepare for your exams?

For me it’s important to prepare in order to avoid panic and end up not doing well for my final examination.

Where do you prefer to study for your exams?

My way of studying is staying behind after school, I also come on weekends with my study group to school and push our revision but at times I would study at home. I would sleep around eight and wake up at 10pm to study for two hours. However what I don’t like about the preparation is being tired most of the time from studying because currently I am suffering from insomnia and it’s affecting me.

What kind of method do you use to prepare and study for your exams?

I use past exam papers to fully prepare myself and I advise other learners to start studying early to avoid last minute things. I prefer preparing myself with my school mates because it’s easier to study with other people, as I might not understand a certain chapter but my classmates might help me understand.

How are the exams so far?

The exams are a bit challenging but I believe I am fully prepared for this and I will definitely make it to University  next year, I am very positive about this.

Why do you think it is important to prepare for your exams?

It’s important to fully prepare for examinations because in order to pass and complete matric, we need to study smart and prepare for the final exams. I prepare everyday as it is important to me to finish my matric and make my parents proud.

Where do you prefer to study for your exams?

I prefer studying at the library and at school with my school mates, it’s not easy studying at home alone. I encourage other school pupils to use study groups because they really work.

What kind of method do you use to prepare and study for your exams?

I prefer jotting down notes and revising from them. Past exam papers are also very helpful and they tend to bring the same questions from the previous papers.
