Simphiwe Dana recently handed herself over to the police after her former lover had opened a case of assault and crimen injuria against her. This is followed by a domestic violence dispute in which Simphiwe had initially opened a case against her ex-lover, Leshoto Itsweng, at the Norwood Police Station.
The songstress will continue pursuing the case against Itsweng and has revealed on social media how traumatic the experience has been to her and how the justice system can,be manipulated by perpetrators.
“The cell I was held in bears testament to this – it was full of domestic violence survivors whose partners had laid counter-charges. This, as the abusers will know, has the immediate effect of bullying victims into dropping the charges against their assailants,” said the musician.
