Police launch manhunt for suspects who killed taxi boss

Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for four suspects after a 63-year-old man was shot dead in Randburg on Thursday. The deceased was identified as the chairperson of a taxi association in Randburg.

Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele said that the man who was driving a Toyota Hilux bakkie was approached by four man who was driving an Audi A3.

“It is alleged that four men driving an Audi A3 stopped parallel with the victim’s Toyota Hilux and started shooting at the van, the deceased lost control,” 

“It is further alleged that three got out of Audi A3 continued shooting at him and went back to the car and drove off, he died at the scene. It was established that the 63-year-old man who was driving a van was a taxi boss in Randburg,” said Makhubele

Makhubele added and urged anyone with the information that could to the arrest of the perpetrators to report to the police.

“Anyone who may have information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects, is urged to report to the police by calling the crime stop number 08600 10111 or if the parents found him be handed to the police” said Makhubele.
