DigiToken app launched for consumers in townships

The DigiToken app which hopes to ease services purchasing such electricity can be accessed online via a laptop/pc or via a mobile device from Wednesday this week.

With high levels of unemployment AfriNova, the company that developed this digital innovation told Gauteng News this app will ease purchasing in South African townships through this platform .

The app is going to offer a simplest way for consumers who are still following traditional ways of purchasing says co-founder Xolisa Vuza.

“The platform caters for the banked (with debit/credit cards); and unbanked and support Township Economy. This is the perfect solution creating convenience as people do not need to leave their homes to buy airtime or electricity, which many still find very prevalent within the South African market particularly in the local areas,”

“All you need to do is download the app, register, confirm your registration and then you are ready to start transacting. Residents find themselves running out of prepaid electricity or water in the middle of the night. Therefore, DigiToken is the solution to this,” said Vuza.

Customers can now buy airtime, electricity and water for areas in Joburg, Tshwane, eThekwini, City of Cape Town, Mangaung, and most municipalities across SA.

“The app also saves the customer on service fees charged by the banks. You are not charged transaction fees when using the Digi Wallet to pay for electricity/airtime. These are only a few of the services that will be available on digiToken, as more products/services will be launched in the next few months.” said Vuza.

Vuza further concluded that the digiToken customers will soon be able to transfer money to other friends or family members in need.
