Hollywoodbets invests R2.5m into back to school campaign

Leading South African betting operator, Hollywoodbets has announced the launch of their inaugural “Back to school” campaign. This initiative will inject an amount of about R2.5 million into educational development across South African schools in need.

In driving this initiative Hollywoodbets has partnered with the Lighthouse Foundation, which is founded by businesswoman, Nomzamo Mbatha.

“To assist in selecting the beneficiary schools, Hollywoodbets have partnered with Nomzamo Mbatha as well as her Lighthouse Foundation, their seven Brand Ambassadors and 85 retail branches nationwide.”

According to Hollywoodbets Group Transformation manager, Babongile Mkhize some items set for donation include school shoes, uniforms, and stationery.

“R500 000 of the budget has also been allocated for the public to nominate schools that need support,” said Mkhize.

Mkhize said this campaign is part of the company’s commitment to better the communities within which they operate. “We aim to provide learners with the basics that they need to kickstart their academic year and give them hope during this difficult time,” said Mkhize.

She said they understand that many communities have been hit hard by the pandemic. “Our communities are our family and have been hit hard by this pandemic, so we need to continue to show them our support,” said Mkhize.

“The schools that have been chosen will each receive R20 000 worth of items such as uniforms, Shoes, and stationery for their learners,” said Mkhize.
