The festive season has come and gone but you’d swear we’ve restarted December when considering the holiday mood that still exists in the air. Some workers were lucky enough to be away for a whole month like school teacherswho only resume their duties on 13 January 2020. Others weren’t so lucky as they had to go back to the daily grind on the first week of January.
Christmas came and money was spent, with good reason of course, but it seemed as if tomorrow may never come. New Year’s eve came and even more money was spent as the long and dreadful 2019 came to an end. Twenty plenty here we come, or is it twenty empty?
Starting off the year on a dark note is not ayoba Eskom seriously needs to make a plan about load-shedding and fast. It appears the matter is only getting worse the power utility gears up for implementing stage 6 load-shedding! Talk about cruelty at its best, have you any idea how long 10 hours without electricity is.
That’s half a day gone in utter silence and powerlessness and not to mention the groceries in the freezer that’ll melt and freeze up again. We need to petition for our groceries people, we can’t be buying food only for it to be off without even reaching its destination – the mouth.
Still continuing on this sour note South Africa woke up to the sad news of veteran radio DJ Chilli M’s passing on Thursday 2 January. Chilli M was a controversial figure, for those who remember him, that got into a lot of trouble. The talented jock also had an uphill battle with drugs and alcohol which cost him a few gigs in the past. On his last interview on MacG’s podcast he admitted to placing an order for drugs on air while working at YFM. Now if this isn’t gangsta on many levels then I don’t know what is.
20 Plenty please hear our cries and live up to your intended abundance because as it is we’ve already started the year on a bleek footing. Reimburse those who squandered their finances during the festive season and lead them not into temptation. Allow the full might of the law to take its course on any incidents related to gender based violence. Give the Proteas their winning streak back because they seem to be losing a lot on the cricket field these days. With that being said let’s strap up our boots and prepare ourselves mentally and physically as wewelcome 2020.
