Midvaal Marks Human Rights Day with Community Walk

Residents of Midvaal Local Municipality came together to commemorate Human Rights Day through the municipality’s annual Walk with the Mayor, held at Vaal Marina.

Led by Executive Mayor Peter Teixeira, the event focused on promoting unity, social cohesion, and healthy living. Participants took part in both the traditional 5km walk and a newly introduced 10km route aimed at more active runners and walkers.

The day also featured cultural performances and aerobics sessions, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees. Despite challenging weather conditions, residents turned out in numbers, highlighting strong community spirit.

The municipality praised participants for their support, noting that the Walk with the Mayor continues to grow into a flagship event that strengthens community ties and encourages an active lifestyle.
