A 70-year-old man was beaten up by community members in Motsoaledi, Soweto after they discovered he had raped a mentally challenged 12-year-old girl. After the community discovered the alleged rape they were angered by it and immediately took the law into their own hands.
The family of the victim opened a rape case at Diepkloof police station but when police arrived at the scene they found the 70 year old beaten up badly.
Local police urged parents to look after their children as they’re vulnerable to sexual predators.
Currently, the 70 year old is in hospital recovering from the community justice and is on police guard at the hospital.
