A 42 year old male suspect arrested in Ivory Park for dealing in dagga

The Gauteng Traffic Police Special Law Enforcement Unit arrested a 42-year-old male suspect for dealing in dagga in Ivory Park on Wednesday night, 23rd February 2022.

The arrested suspect was found in unlawful possession of 50.7 kg dagga estimated at a street value of +- R600,000.00.

The suspect has been detained at Ivory Park police station and is expected to appear at Tembisa Magistrate Court soon to face charges relating to unlawful possession and dealing in dagga.

Gauteng Traffic police spokesperson, Sello Maremane, says the consignment was booked at Ivory Park police station for further investigation.

“The Gauteng Traffic Police will continue to root out all criminal elements as part of the safety month programme,” said Maremane.

Maremane said illegal dealing and possession of dagga has far reaching implications as it is a major contributing factor to most crimes.

“The Gauteng Traffic Police will continue to disrupt the demand and supply value chain of dagga in an effort to ensure a safe and secure province,’’
