(AD) Locally coded, locally created: rAge 2025 to spotlight SA talent

rAge, South Africa’s biggest gaming and geek culture expo, returns to Fourways Mall from 5 to 7 December — and this year the spotlight is firmly on local creators. The 2025 edition features an expanded Artist Alley and a boosted Home_Coded showcase, placing South African artists, designers, coders and indie game developers at the centre of the event.

The Legion Events Artist Alley will host 56 stalls offering original art, cosplay accessories, indie comics, handmade merchandise, themed décor and new additions such as permanent jewellery, tattoo art and a Streamer Selfie Booth.

Home_Coded will showcase locally developed games with live demos, playtests and sneak previews. Highlights include ToTheMoon!, a Joburg-developed crypto-themed board game; Mighty Peckers, a chaotic multiplayer platformer set for a 2026 Steam release; and OMEN, a dark fantasy action title with a beta unlocked through its companion comic.

The Jam Arcade @ rAge, led by Women in Games Ambassador Ronica Singh, will feature first-time developers from Women Game Jam and Game Jam+ South Africa, with a focus on women and youth entering the sector.

Organisers say the creator-focused zones reflect rAge’s commitment to elevating South African talent and growing the country’s digital and artistic industries.
