The Banyana Banyana football team have been nominated African Women’s National Team of the Year by the CAF annual football awards for the 28th edition in January 2020, in Egypt. Adding to the exciting news,two standout players in the Banyana Banyana team Refiloe Jane and Thembi Kgatlana have both been nominated for the African Women’s Player of the year award, not forgetting the iron lady coach Desiree Ellis as African Women Coach of the year.
The football team players are gratified and excited to be nominated for the CAF annual football awards. The awards feature numerous award categories for men’s and women’s football including Coach of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, National Team of the year, Goal of the Year, Africa Finest X, Federation of the Year and several new award categories which will be celebrating remarkable individuals who contribute to the growth and success of African football.
The list of nominees are organised by a panel of media and numerous technical professionals, and the nomination will play a critical role in boosting Banyana Banyana’s confidence and performance. Countries that have been nominated for the Africa Women’s National Team include Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zambia.
