Collen Mashawana contributes on building better communities

The founder of Collen Mashawana Foundation and Afribiz Invest Collen Mashawana is passionate about building better communities.

Mashawana who is also a chairman of Afribiz donates his time and resources to different charity causes.

“People should help each other and always lead by example. Collen Mashawana Foundation is an NGO based on Africans. It was established with an aim of reaching out to as many youths as possible. We believe in a culture of giving back to the communities. The foundation’s mission is to create employment for youth. Empowered youth can lead to intergenerational equity and democracy. Poverty contributes to youths’ vulnerabilities and drop outs. We want to mobilise social cohesion and help with eradication of poverty”, he said.

Mashawana said there is also a Housing Appeal Initiative which contributes to a better housing situation in South Africa.

“We build houses for elderly, child-headed, homeless and disabled people. We have contributed to hundreds of poor residents. Housing Appeal Initiative gave a 100-year-old Dipabalo Mohedo and his wife Johanna Nsibande a new house. They reside at Mackenzieville in Nigel Johannesburg. They waited for 22 years for an RDP house. The beneficiaries lived in a shack without electricity and used a plastic toilet”, said Mashawana.
