Pretoria West police have warned residents in the area to avoid walking alone in Viviers street at all times. This comes after three residents reported daylight robberyincidents to the police in the area recently.
One resident allegedly got robbed of R1000 of school registration money. Another victim told Gauteng Newspaper that they felt that the police were not helping to solve these crimes. The victim claimed that criminals are not from the area, but just come to commit robberies.
Richardo Daubern said that he has realised that crime in his local area is getting high in the area every month. “We struggle to get the municipality to clear bushes and trees because criminals use these as a hideaway to wait and attack unsuspecting victims,” said Daubern.
Constable Mandla Zwane said that the police are aware that such incidents mostly happen in quiet areas where people walk alone.
” Robberies that took place at Viviers street, are classified as a ‘Theft General investigation’ and follow ups are being made. Investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made to date.”
“West residents should ensure that all criminal activities are reported to the nearest police station for investigations. Residents are urged to report suspicious activities in their area by calling 0860 0 10111 or go to the local police station to seek immediate help,” Concluded Zwane.
