Drugs worth over R1m seized in Robertsham

One male suspect was arrested after being found in dealing and manufacturing narcotic drugs worth more than R1million at a house in Xavier Street, Robertsham in Johannesburg. The suspect was arrested by Johannesburg Metropolitan (JMPD) officers and members of South African Police service (SAPS) on Thursday morning.

The male suspect in his mid-forties, is a foreign national and was renting the house where drugs were being made in the garage. 

The JMPD Spokesperson Wayne Minnaar told Gauteng Newspaper that officers conducted a joint intelligence driven operation, following a tipoff that drugs were being manufactured at the property.

“This come after officers entered the property and discovered drugs worth more than R1million.Officers found dishes and homemade equipment which were used in the mixing of chemicals to make drugs commonly known as Kat and Crystal Meth,” said Minnaar.

Minnaar said the suspect is due to appear in the Booysens Magistrates Court.

“The suspect will likely appear in the Booysens Magistrates Court soon to face charges of possession, dealing and manufacturing narcotic drugs,” said Minnaar.
