The Seriti commission of inquiry approach to credible witness was found to be a complete failure by the High Court on Wednesday.
Judge President Dunstan Mlambo overturned Judge Willie Seriti’s judgement on the controversial arms deal. He says the evidence leaders, particularly Chippy Shaik and Fana Hlongwane, displayed “a complete failure to rigorously test the versions of these witnesses”.
Mlambo added that Seriti commission accepted evidence without further investigation.
The commission has cost taxpayers almost R140 million.
Meanwhile the Economic Freedom Fighter calls for consistency in the judiciary. The party said Judge Seriti, who chaired the commission of inquiry and those who appointed him must be held liable for the costs after finding were overturned.
