Five arrested in connection with Senzo Meyiwa’s murder

Six years since the murder of slain Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, Police Minister Bheki Cele and national commissioner Khehla Sithole have given an update on the case on Monday afternoon.

Police have made a breakthrough and arrested five men believed to have been the hitmen.

Meyiwa was murdered at the Vosloorus home of his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s mother in 2014.

Police bosses have been heavily criticised by the Meyiwa family and the public for the lack of arrests in a case that shook the country.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the national police, Brigadier Vish Naidoo, said Meyiwa’s case was being investigated by the Cold Case Analysis team.

He said since the team took over the case in 2018, they had not promoted any reward for information because it didn’t prove to be successful before when it was initially offered.

“Nobody ever came forward with information or claimed any reward so we never promoted it since 2018.
