Gauteng premier launch 16 Days of Activism in Soweto

The Gauteng Provincial Government led by the Premier, David Makhura, accompanied by the members of Executive Council, will today 25 November, launch the Provincial 16 Days of Activism campaign for no Violence against Women and Children at Dorothy Nyembe Park in Dobsonville, Soweto.  

The purpose of the launch is aimed at mobilising all sectors of society to be active participants in the fight against gender-based violence and femicide. The launch will commence at 08:30 am with a safety blitz by women from various law enforcement agencies, aimed at educating road users on gender-based violence issues and Gender-Based Violence Brigades embarking on a door to door campaign at identified gender-based violence hotspots within Dobsonville policing precinct.

The event will culminate into a formal programme at Dorothy Nyembe Park in Dobsonville. The programme will also see the newly recruited Police Station Floor Managers and Gender-Based Violence Brigades being introduced to Premier Makhura by MEC Mazibuko.
