The South Gauteng High Court has on Tuesday found Hector Mdletshe guilty on two counts of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Mdletshe has been sentenced to 1 life sentence and twelve years imprisonment after he was found guilty on four criminal charges, which include murder of his ex-wife Nomsa Hilda Mbuyisa, possession of an unlawful firearm and ammunition, and two counts of attempted murder of his son and brother-in-law.
Mdletshe shot and killed his wife last year, when she was about to board a taxi to work in Soweto.
He appeared in the South Gauteng High Court sitting in Palm Ridge magistrate on Monday where his case was postpone to Tuesday.
Delivering the judgment on Tuesday was Judge AJ Thobane, who described the relationship between Nomsa and Mdletshe as violent and abusive.
The judge went on by adding that Hector had an intention to kill Nomsa as he was armed when he followed her.
Mdletshe’s son expressed happiness after Judge Thobane delivered the judgment; however, he was broken that his own father killed his mother.
Mdletshe shot and killed Nomsa, and he shot her brother Alfred Mbuyisa in the leg and attempted to shoot his son Mthunzi Mbuyisa.
Meanwhile, The Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, has welcomed the sentence handed down to the 44-year-old for murder and attempted murder at the Palm Ridge Magistrate Court today.
