The South African National Civic Organization (SANCO) together with the African National Congress (ANC) organised a march to support the no confidence motion against Mayor Herman Mashaba on Thursday at City of Johannesburg head office at Braamfontein. The meeting was conducted indoors while a hoard of ANC supporters were chanting outside the head office, holding banners with a strong message against Mayor Mashaba. At the same time, SANCO went to Eskom Metro center at Braamfontein to hand over and sign a memorandum that stipulates people of Gauteng won’t be paying for electricity. Members of SANCO claim most of them are unemployed and they are unable to pay electricity.
Gauteng News spoke to the members of SANCO, “We don’t want Herman Mashaba to be Mayor of Gauteng because we are still unemployed, the city of Johannesburg is very dirty and foreigners are populating our cities”, said May Zulu. The outcome of the meeting was Herman Mashaba is till the Mayor of Gauteng. However, many ANC together with SANCO were dissatisfied about the outcome of the meeting.

Members of the Democratic Alliance (DA) came in small numbers to support the Mayor, Gauteng News spoke to Samuel Tumelo Mkaye, leader of Security of the “We are here to support Mayor Mashaba because he supports us. ANC is fighting with the DA so they will discredit the Mayor and attempt to remove him from his position. Mashaba has been with us for 3 years yet ANC has always been in power, what have they done for us ever since democracy”.
Members of the DA were happy to the announcement of Mayor Mashaba together with the EFF supports. SANCO and ANC members demanded houses and the Mayor to distribute land to the people of Gauteng, members demanded jobs and the removal of foreigners in Johannesburg.
