Johannesburg — Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has announced an aggressive economic growth and service delivery programme during the 2026 State of the Province Address held at Nasrec on Monday evening.
Lesufi revealed that Gauteng attracted R27 billion in foreign investment, while projects worth hundreds of billions of rand are moving into implementation stages expected to create more than 100,000 jobs across multiple sectors. 
The Premier confirmed major infrastructure interventions following recent water shortages, including a R760 million upgrade to strengthen water supply systems across affected communities.
Government will also expand the Gautrain network, assume responsibility for Gauteng’s e-toll debt, and accelerate new industrial and logistics projects aimed at reindustrialising the province. 
On crime, Lesufi reported declines in murder, sexual offences and property-related crime, supported by additional law-enforcement deployments and surveillance technology.
Key priorities outlined in the address include job creation, fixing municipalities, improving healthcare and education services, and stabilising energy and transport systems.
The Premier said Gauteng remains committed to driving national economic growth while improving daily living conditions for residents.
