After suffering a stroke in April, the world-renowned singer and songwriter
Lerato Molapo who is best known as Lira has regained her speech. Lira has
opened up about the exciting news to her fans on her social media platforms
about learning to communicate and regaining her speech again.
Lira suffered a stroke while in Germany for a performance that affected her
ability to communicate and also affected her speech which resulted in her not
to be able to sing for some time, and she is now making a great recovery.
While speech is still a bit of a challenge for her, Lira says “she can sing”. Lira
shared a video clip of one of her hit singles “something inside so strong”
alongside a caption saying: “Yesterday marked three months since I had a
stroke.
“I can talk now, although I need a little patience. I can read and I can write. So
much love for me makes me emotional. I am doing so well!” on her Instagram.
She continued to say: “I’ve made such awesome progress. I’m proud of
myself and I give thanks to God. Your prayers have been massively appreciated.”
Lira’s family has asked her fans to keep praying for her and to also keep her in
their thoughts and also said: “we thank you all in advance for your prayers,
support, kindness, and utmost sensitivity and consideration during this very
challenging time in her life. Let there be light!”
And for the first time since she suffered a stroke in April, Lira has made her
first public appearance in 5 months. On Thursday, the South African singer
spent the night dancing in Joburg at the launch of fellow musician Tamara
Dey’s new single, Disco Therapy.
“I went out last night,” Lira captioned a video of Dey performing on Instagram
Stories.
In another video, the 43-year-old shares a glimpse of herself and Pabi Moli
enjoying the live performance.
A video on Moloi’s Instagram Stories shows Lira dancing with South African
artist Sylvester Falata.
