Police in Gauteng have arrested a man suspected to be responsible for the murder of a 32-year-old woman in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni. The victim was murdered on Monday, last week.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubele said officials followed information after the woman was reported missing by her mother on Saturday.
“It is reported that the women left Alexandra on 10 January 2021 to visit her boyfriend who is the father to her two-year-old child.After she did not come back home the boyfriend indicated that she left but she did not arrive,” said Makhubele.
The 32-year-old suspect was arrested on Monday at his place of residence in Vosloorus.
Makhubele said police followed information which led them to the victim’s car in Alberton. The person who was found in possession of the car led police to the boyfriend who sold thevehicle to him.
He said the boyfriend admitted he killed her and dumped her body in an open field in Heidelberg.
Makhubele said a murder case has been opened.
“A case of murder was opened after a body of the woman was found in an open field,” said Makhubele. He said the suspect has been hiding since the discovery of the body.
The suspect is expected to appear at Germiston Magistrates Court on a murder charge.
