Mashatile urges South Africans to help those in need

The founder and patron of the Manzi Mashatile Foundation, Paul Mashatile, has urged South Africans to assist those in need at a time of great need. Mashatile outlined this during the distribution of 1100 food parcels across 10 wards in Alexandra recently.  Three old age homes, one hospice and other households benefited from this donation.

This foundation was launched in honor of Mashatile’s late wife, Manzi Ellen Matlhodi, who passed on in July this year after a long illness. Mashatile has indicated that due to the Covid-19 many people lost their jobs and they cannot make end meets.

“This year has been particularly tough due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the loss of jobs and income that it has caused. But it has been even more devastating to those who had no income even at the start of the pandemic”

“This is why we felt it important that our food parcel drive reaches as many people as possible. I urge all of us to share what we have, however little you think it is, it will be multiplied in the eyes of the recipient”

Among the organisations that benefited from the food parcel distribution drive are the Ithlokomeleng Old Age Home and Phuthaditjhaba Care for the Aged. Both of these organisations are based in Alexandra.

The food parcel distribution drive is the third initiative undertaken by the Foundation since its launch at the end of November. At its launch, a total of 50 learners were invited to receive free eye testing and prescription glasses.

In early December, the foundation spent two days at the Emfundisweni Primary School in Alexandra distributing stationery and other schooling material. They also offered comprehensive health checks, including dental checkup.
