Mkhwanazi unable to apply for release on bail

The man who murdered Palesa Madiba six years ago, Dumisani Mkhwanazi 36, appeared in court on Wednesday at the Protea Magistrate Court in Soweto where he was unable to apply for his release on bail.

His lawyer Don Thinane was present at court and he confirmed that he is appearance on behalf of Mkhwanazi; he told the court he would not request to see the docket to study its content.

Thinane added that his client is not in a position to apply for bail.

The case has been postponed to September 17, and has been moved to Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg.

However, the date for the trial to commence has not been confirmed yet.

Dumisani faces charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.

Palesa Madiba was last seen alive in 2013 on August 9 while visiting her friend Tshidi Mkhwanazi’s home at Phiri in Soweto.
