Housing MMC, Meshack Van Wyk recently paid a visit tothe hostel site in Diepkloof, Soweto to ensure residents that the City of Johannesburg is committed to providing quality and dignified houses to them. The contractors stationed at Diepkloof hostel complained about terrible conditions they face at the hostel, and community members made a point to express their challenges to the MMC about the challenges they face.
MMC Van Wyk also attended to the pupils’ complaints and witnessed the conditions that people live in. He informed the people that his objective is to refurbish the state of housing and promised them good living conditions.
The MMC congratulated the contractors that have been assigned to Diepkloof hostel for doing a great job in assuring quality housing. He advised that the necessary equipment needed to finish the refurbishment of the hostel is available and will be provided immediately to the contractors. MMC assured the people that the department of Housing has signed an agreement with Joshco to assist with the implementations to proceed with the project, and promised to community members that the department is fully committed in delivering a successful project.
