Artist Mokgadi Banda is working hard to make her mark in the entertainment industry.
Banda was born and bred in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo. She moved to Johannesburg in 2007 with her parents. Banda started her music career at the tender age of 14, where she was trained through jazz and choral music during her schooling years.
“Later on I became a back-up singer for Nhlanhla Nciza and worked with Mvzzle, a producer of Umlilo by DJ Zinhle. Ienjoyed every minute of the journey, especially because I was fresh from school. My first time on a plane was through her. Imet a lot of brands that I had always wanted to encounter, travelled around and had crazy sleepless nights. When it comes to Mvzzle, we have worked on few projects. Mvzzle is down to earth and an interesting soul”, she said.
Banda told Gauteng News that Lira and Basetsana Khumalo are her role models.
“I consider myself an artist because I explore with different music genres. However, I am not only a musician but also a founder and director of Mokgadi Legacy, where my music is released. So far I have released singles which are played on radio stations such Thobela FM, Jozi FM, Phalaphala FM and others. I am also busy with a number of projects, which include shooting my music videos”, she said.
Banda owns a YouTube platform where she interviews creatives across the country about their work. She aims to build young creatives, so that they can reach their potentials and shine.
“Through my career, I made it to the international magazine called Supreme magazine as well as Urbancraft magazine, where I was featured”, she said.
