New evidence about ANC’s involvement in recent protests.

Staff reporter

The service delivery protest that took place in Alexandra earlier this month, which spurred many other protest happening in Gauteng have raised many eyebrows with residents demanding to be addressed by Johannesburg Mayor, Councillor Herman Mashaba.

Meanwhile, Cllr Mashaba released a statement with new evidence showing an African National Congress branded vehicle loaded with old tyres in Berea and inner city of Johannesburg.

In a statement, Mashaba said that new evidence has emerged about how the African National Congress is actively involved in stocking the fires of protests in Johannesburg.

This has risen from a standard Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) search operation which discovered an ANC branded vehicle loaded with old tyres.

This discovery included ANC equipment, branded material as well as delegate accreditation cards of two ANC members of the ANC Gauteng list conference in December 2018. One of these members were in the vehicle at the time of the search and has subsequently been arrested.

“I will be arranging a meeting with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and the public protector who have initiated a joint investigation into the recent events in Alexandra,” said Mashaba.
