Patogeng Primary School in Atteridgeville gets a newly built computer lab for the Mandela Month

This morning the City of Tshwane’s Executive Mayor, Randall Williams went to Patogeng Primary School in Atteridgeville with MMC for Human Capital Management & Shared Services, Sylvester Phokoje to officially launcha newly built computer lab.

The lab is sponsored by the city in commemorating the Nelson Mandela Month. 20 desks and computers, all with internet connection were donated by the city.

Williams said that the Covid-19 pandemic has exposed the need for access to computers and the net. He also said that South Africa is becoming a digital world and they have to prepare their children.

“Technological enhancement will help learners adapt to the growing digital world of learning,” he added.

He stated, “School children have lost a lot of time being at home without proper education due to the lockdown.” He added that the launch has come at an opportune time when learners and teachers have a lot of catch-up to do as they return to classrooms.

Williams said it is not the government’s job to upgrade the schools and as the city of Tshwane they have proven that as they lead by example. He gave assurance to everyone that the school has strong security measures in place to protect the computer lab for the future generations, as he concludes.
