Police arrest 2 suspects for armed robbery

Police arrested two suspects between the ages of 24 and 30 for armed robbery, possession of suspected stolen property and possession of a dangerous weapon at Corner Marshall and Loveday Street on 3 October 2019 at 19:30.

The two suspects are believed to have robbed a 30-year-old male on his way back from work. “The victim was on his way to catch a taxi home when he was confronted by the suspects. One of them pointed a gun at him while his accomplice patted him down and took his i Phone alongside a bag that contained his laptop”, says Captain Xoli Mbele.

The victim then screamed for help and caught the attention of police officers who were on foot patrol. They recovered his belongings and the suspects were apprehended. The firearm used in the crime was later discovered to be a toy gun.

The investigation is under way and the suspects will appear in court soon.
