SANDF to launch investigation on Mozambique border shooting

The South African National Defence Force (Sandf) says a board of inquiry will investigate a shooting between local soldiers and the Mozambican border police.

The incident took place on Sunday and officials say it won’t compromise the border.

Details are sketchy, but a team has been sent to probe the shooting.

Sandf spokesperson Mafi Mgobozi says the situation could get tense.

“I won’t say our border is under threat because of that unfortunate incident. Our people are there patrolling. The situation I can say yes it could be tense but our soldiers are there doing their job.”
