School principal shot dead in his vehicle

The death of a high school principal has sent shockwaves throughout the country as schools are currently preparing for re-opening on Wednesday 15 January 2020.

Mr Emmanuel Tshivhase, principal of Jabulile Secondary School in Orange Farm, was allegedly shot dead by an unknown man while in his vehicle on Thursday. Tshivashe reportedly pulled over to the side of the road, about 3km away from the school, while speaking on his cellphone before the murder occurred. 

The crime scene was attended by police officers who later opened a case to investigate circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of the 53-year-old principal. Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi expressed his shock and sadness from hearing the news and described Tshivhase’s dedication to the school and his matric pupils.

“Mr Tshivhase is one of our renowned principals who led Jabulile Secondary School with greatness. His hard work propelled an 80 percent pass rate for the 2019 matricresults for his school. We condemn such criminal acts and extend our sincere condolences to the family of Mr Tshivhase, and the entire school community”, said MEC Lesufi. 

The Department of Education officials had already visited the family to convey their condolences accordingly, the MEC will visit the family on Sunday 12 January.
