Three criminals hijack military officer at corner Makou and R21 streets in Pretoria

Three heavily armed criminals recently robbed a South African National Defence Force (SANDF) officer’s valuables and hijacked his car, at Makou Street near military base in Pretoria.

According to an eye witness who spoke to Gauteng News criminals blocked the soldier’s car with their white combo and pointed him with rifles. The victim had no choice as his path was blocked but to get out of his vehicle.

“Robbers ambushed and took the soldier’s car as well as his valuables day-light. They looked like trained criminals because of the way they handled guns and the hijack”, said the eye witness.

Community members have expressed their concerns on tweeter about  police saying they have focused on checking alcohol abuse crimes and lockdown non-compliance laws. They say police are checking whether people are wearing masks instead of fighting serious crimes occurring in the country. People also encouraged South African law enforcement to join forces with military in order to combat crimes that have been taking place. Some are questioning why eye witnesses did not call for help or call police at the same time.

Since the incident took place, metro police and state officials have been patrolling for the safety of residents on roads and in Pretoria.
