Three suspects busted for stealing Vodacom tower batteries

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD)officers have arrested three suspects for stealing two Vodacom towers in Northeast of Pretoria, in Vaalbank on Wednesday morning. The arrest comes after JMPD (IIOC) Undercover officers spotted a white Opel van in Fordsburg which fitted the description of the suspect’svehicle.

JMPD spokesman Xolani Fihla told Gauteng News that the suspect car was seen in connection with a crime where two Vodacom tower batteries were stolen. 

“JMPD (IIOC) Undercover officers spotted a white Opel van in Fordsburg on Wednesday morning. The suspects vehicle fitted the description of a vehicle which was seen in connection with a crime in Vaalbank where two Vodacom tower batteries were stolen,”

“The three male occupants jumped out of the van and attempted to escape, but the officers chased after them on foot and arrested all three suspects,” he said.

He added and said that the arrested suspects were detained at Johannesburg Central Police Station. 

“The suspects were charged for possession of the stolen property, valued at approximately R40 000. The suspects are likely to appear in the Vereeniging Magistrates court soon on charges of burglary and for theft,”

He further added and appealed to the community members to report crime to the nearest police station and also made a stern warning to the criminals.

“To the community we are appealing that they are the first people who see them, so they must report to the nearest police station in time and the police will do their work.”

“To the criminals we are saying that your criminal’s activities are being watched and police are on high-alert. So, anyone who takes chance and break the law will be dealt with harshly,” he added
