Tshwane Metro has temporarily suspended motor vehicle registration and licensing operations at Akasia Licensing Centre with effect from Tuesday. This comes after a reported positive Covid-19 case. This was announced by Tshwane spokesman Selby Bokaba on Tuesday morning.
“The City of Tshwane would like to inform its residents of the temporary suspension of motor vehicle registration and licensing operations at Akasia Licensing Centre with effect from Tuesday, 15 December 2020,” Bokaba said.
According to him the affected licensing centre will be disinfected during the closure and suspension of operations period to combat the risk of further Covid-19 infection. The Watloo Licensing Centre, Centurion Licensing Centre and Bronkhorstspruit Licensing Centre will remain open to assist residents with registration and licensing of motor vehicles.
“All employees housed at the Akasia motor vehicle registration centre have been advised to remain at home and take the necessary,” he said.
The temporary closure of the centre does not affect the services in respect of driving license renewal and learner license testing. The licensing centre will reopen for operations as soon as the disinfection process has been completed.
