Tshwane Mayor conducts oversight visit to region 3 areas

This week the Tshwane Mayor, Randall Williams conducted an oversight visit to region 3 areas such as Daspoort, Hermanstad and Rietondale, to assess service delivery related matters and monitor progress key projects across all seven regions of Tshwane.

During yesterday’s oversight visit Mayor Williams was joined by MMCs Mare-Lisa Fourie and Sylvester Phokoje.

“Together with city officials and ward councillors, we moved from one area to another to witness first-hand if services are being delivered to our residents,” Williams said.

He said their administration views these oversight visits as a core part of their work, as it is important that they remain in touch with the reality on the ground.

“The oversight programme is also aimed at assisting us to identify service shortfalls with the intention of correcting them,” he added.

Williams also mentioned that they found a lot of services being delivered with replacement of warn pipes, cleaning of storm water systems, roads markings and patching of potholes.

“We also took the opportunity to inspect progress on the upgrade of Caledonian Stadium. The city has budgeted R35 million towards rebuilding the facility to ensure that it meets Premier Soccer League Standards,” Williams said.

“It is important that as the city we continue to invest in our sporting facilities as they provide opportunities for young people to develop their sporting skills,” he concludes.
