The recent announcement of the bank strike scheduled to take place on Friday has shaken the country regarding financial transactions. The banking sector’s planned retrenchments are being challenged by the South African Society of Bank Officials (SASBO) and has encouraged all its workers to participate in the protest.
If the protest goes ahead South Africa could see over 60 000 finance sector workers picketing outside their regional work places. Workers from Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Bloemfontein are expected to be among the anticipated large number of protestors.

Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) headed to court, however, on Wednesday to oppose the planned strike on behalf of the country’s commercial banks. The verdict will be delivered on Thursday morning and BUSA believes they have a strong case.
‘The Labour Court decided to give the final verdict for the interdict against #BankStrike tomorrow morning at Braamfontein Labour Court at 10am’, read the tweet.
In the meantime the South African Revenue Services (SARS) urged people to settle their tax payments and tax refunds 2 days prior to strike to avoid any glitches.
