Volunteers Dedicate Resources to Keep Taxis Sanitised

More than 251,881 taxis in Gauteng, KZN, Eastern Cape and Western Cape have been sanitised by Scientology Volunteer Ministers with their new fogging machine.

The new machine has enabled the nonprofit organisation’s volunteers to sanitise up to 12 780 taxis daily. This is in response to government’s relaxing level three Covid-19 lockdown regulations, allowing people to return back to work.  Most of South Africans rely on taxis as a mode of transport.

The organisation’s public affairs director Sandile Hlayisi, said that the new machines will make their work easier and faster.  “Our new machines will allow us to ramp up our efforts to assist taxi commuters and drivers, said Sandile.

According to Hlayisi, the new fogging machine is capable of deep sanitation, decontamination and disinfection at double the speed. Previously, the organisation used to dispense Decon-7, a decontamination agent developed in the United States to combat germ warfare. They indicate that they have sanitised more than 10.5 million square meters since March.

Taxi driver Honest Sono commended the work done by the organisation.

“I am very happy that you come every day. Please continue being patient with us drivers. We are not men of schooling, but we appreciate the work the Volunteer Ministers are doing, and we are also learning a lot about this virus from you.” Said Sono.

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers is a a South African volunteer organization founded by L. Ron Hubbard during his residence in the country in the sixties
