Ward councillor hopes to have taxi hub in Fourways

Ward 94 councillor in the City of Johannesburg, David Foley says his office is working hard to have a Fourways taxi hub built for operators.

This comes after Fourways Mall management, working closely with the local councillor decided to provide a temporary holding bay for taxi operators in the area.

Foley said he has been requesting that the taxis park on the roof of Fourways Mall for over a year as part of a temporal arrangement that he hope will last for a while.

“I am working with the regional director and the Department of Transport in Region A to establish a Fourways taxi hub which is really needed. We also need hawker establishment with ablution facilities,” said Foley.

Fourways Mall communications coordinator, VeruschkaMoodley said, they are working very closely with the transportation industry and the greater community to temporarily assist with a holding area for the taxis.

“As part of a collective drive to improve the node, Fourways Mall has also committed to the upkeep of the area, by extending our cleaning services mandate to include Fourways Boulevard. “We will continue to work closely with key community leaders to assist in creating  a safe environment for all road users,” said Moodley.
