A group of dangerous criminals get double life imprisonment

Gauteng North High court recently sentenced a group of five dangerous criminals with double life imprisonment for the murder of two people, four injured people, possession of a firearm and firing around with ammunition.

These dangerous criminals were arrested by South African Police Services (SAPS) officials as they used to terrorise community members in Geluksdal, Ekurhuleni Gauteng.

Police Warrant officer Tello Motha led a team which did investigation on criminal cases of these five gangsters. The suspects got arrested on 10 April 2018, during an operation that was carried by him.

“On the 7 April 2018, the gangsters were involved in a drive-by shooting where two men died and other four got injured. The suspects used a vehicle when opening fire to a group of friends that were sitting on the other side of the road. They recently appeared in Gauteng North High court on 7 November 2020 and were charged with two counts of murder, four counts of attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and firing around with ammunition”, he added.

Court sentenced them with a double life terms imprisonment for murder of two people, plus 26 years imprisonment each for attempted murder, five years for possession of unlicensed firearms and two years for possession of ammunition.

“We worked tirelessly in order to present the necessary evidence before the court. The sentences they got will send a strong message to all other gangsters across the country, who are committing crimes, involved in terrorising and inflicting pain on communities”, said Motha.
