Gauteng Traffic Police call upon motorists to be cautious on the N1 North Freeway towards Polokwane after a mancommitted suicide on Tuesday morning at around 08:00 am. The incident happened between Petroport Garage and Wallmansthal Bridge.
Circumstances surrounding the suicidal incident is unknown at this stage while police investigations are currently underway.
The Gauteng Traffic Police urges road users to use alternative roads. The scene is not yet cleared at the moment with only the right lane currently being utilized to allow the free flow of traffic.
The Gauteng Traffic Police has also noted with concern that some motorists are taking pictures of the deceased as they pass through the scene.
“We condemns the reckless behaviour by some motorist passing along the N1 freeway, especially those taking the pictures of the deceased. This behaviour is unwarranted and punishable by law enforcement authorities since the deceased’s family is not yet notified. Anyone found with the pictures or to be circulating them will face the full wrath of law,” said Sello Maremane, Gauteng Traffic Police Spokesperson.
