Man arrested for driving a stolen car

Police recently arrested a 39 years old man for driving a presumed stolen car, in Orlando East Soweto.

Orlando East police station spokesperson Constable Monica Hangwane said police were doing their daily duties when they came across a red Ford fiesta.

“Inside the car were three occupants including a driver. These two passengers were about to alight from the vehicle when police asked for permission to search it. While searching, they found that the engine and vin were tampered. Police then tested the vehicle with radio control and it was positive as stolen. The suspect was charged with possession of a presumed stolen car and will appear at Orlando Magistrate court soon”, said Hangwane.

In a different case, Orlando SAPS have recently arrested two male suspects aged 24 and 26 inside a stolen car.

“Police were patrolling when they received a radio complaint about a community beating two suspects. Upon their arrival, they removed suspects and checked the vehicle they were driving. When checked, the vehicle was positive as per the hijacked Diepkloof case.  The two suspects were charged with possession of stolen vehicles and will appear at Orlando Magistrate court soon”, she said.
