The South African Police Services in conjunction with Security guards arrested a 25-year-old male for business robbery at corner Albertina Sisulu and Mooi Streets on Saturday at 16:00. It is alleged that five suspects robbed A-Mart Baby shop on corner Albertina Sisulu and Delvers Street.
“They entered the shop pretending to be customers where one of them gave the cashier R100 pretending to buy baby shoes. When the cashier opened the till the suspectpointed a firearm at her while his accomplices took an undisclosed amount of money from the till. They also tookthe cashier’s cellphone before they fled the scene, said Captain Xoli Mbele.
The cashier then screamed for help and alerted a security guard standing outside who then gave chase. The security guard was joined by police, in the chase, and one suspect was apprehended. The remaining four suspects are still at large with the money and the firearm used in the commission of the crime. The apprehended suspect appeared at the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on Monday.
