Gauteng Department of Health MEC, Bandile Masuku, made a commitment of investing more than R1 million towards maintenance and refurbishment of facilities across the province during his health budget Vote.
Masuku mentioned, on the 6th administration, that one of the key focus areas is dealing with Occupational Health Safety compliance. He added that this is also in preparation for the roll out of the National Health Insurance.
“Safety of both staff and patients is a key focus area for the department. It also involves ensuring that we are compliant and will assist us in achieving the improved health outcomes. The department has set itself an annual target of ensuring 100% administrative OHS compliance. 2019/20 First Quarter performance for the department shows that we are currently at 55% which is on course with attaining 100% by the end of financial year”, he said.
Masuku maintained that all their facilities are 100% compliant with Occupational Health and Safety at the end of 2019/20 financial year
