Baragwanath workers organize peaceful march

Health workers from Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital organized a march, on Tuesday, raising awareness about women and child abuse. A hoard of marching women, dressed in black, sang jubilantly as they made their way onto the hospital premises .

The workers were joined in song by people within the vicinity who shared the same sentiments regarding the current pandemic. Gauteng News spoke to Ntombi who attended the march, “Today we are highlighting the seriousness of women and child abuse. Our children are being killed at the hands of our men.

These are the same people we trust and expect protection from. We need to support each other as women and therefore today we are uniting and fighting together against women abuse”.

South Africa is currently faced with a serious predicament that is claiming the lives of innocent children and women. A week ago UCT student Uyinene Mrwetyana was laid to rest after being raped and killed by an employee from Post Office.

This led to a public outcry which prompted President Cyril Ramaphosa address the nation and impose a harsher sentence to rapists.
